Efter påsk blev det en weekende på Malta med Mattias Sandelinger och strukturerade säljkurser och gemensamma säljuppdrag, samt en och annan runda golf.
Malta’s earliest inhabitants date back to 8,000 years ago. The extraordinary Neolithic temples they built are believed to be older than the pyramids in Egypt, making them the oldest freestanding monuments in the world. Around 2,000 BC, the island was conquered by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Arabs respectively. The Order of Knights of St John ruled the islands from 1530 until 1798, building hospitals, palaces and churches, erecting extensive fortifications and boosting trade. But they were often under attack, mostly from the Ottomans, culminating in a months-long onslaught known as The Great Siege of 1565. In 1798, Napoleon’s army conquered the island, in a short time laying down a civil code and educational system, as well as abolishing slavery. The British took over soon after, ruling for the next 160 years. Malta was important for both trade and conflict – never more so than in World War II. The spirit shown by the Maltese led King George VI to award Malta the George Cross, proudly displayed on the national flag. Malta became independent in 1964 and joined the European Union in 2004.
